Job Description

Role and Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct detailed audits of mortgage loan files, reviewing documentation, income calculations, credit risk assessments, and loan decision rationales to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Identify inconsistencies, errors, or deviations from underwriting standards, providing detailed feedback to underwriters on areas of improvement.
  • Prepare comprehensive quality control reports, documenting findings, trends, and patterns, and presenting recommendations to management for corrective actions.
  • Perform root cause analysis on recurring issues or high-risk underwriting activities to prevent future errors and ensure continuous quality improvement.
  • Proactively identify risk areas and collaborate with the risk management and compliance departments to reduce exposure to potential losses or regulatory penalties.
  • Identify challenge areas and suggest methods to improve quality, at the individual and program levels
  • Identify bottom quartile agents, suggest training & / or Ops teams facilitating re-training and closely monitor their post training performance.
  • Record advisor’s performance-using various tools on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
  • Complete and update quality reports at month-end and submit reports
  • Participate in Client Monitoring sessions and share client feedback with Team Leaders / Trainers / Agents

 

Key skills and knowledge:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in mortgage underwriting or mortgage quality assurance, with strong knowledge of loan products
  • In-depth understanding of mortgage underwriting regulations, policies, and standards.
  • Ability to analyze underwriting trends and patterns, providing actionable recommendations to improve quality.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to provide clear feedback and reporting to both underwriters and senior management.
  • Knowledge of Transaction Monitoring methodology
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications especially MS Excel, MS Word & MS Power Point
  • Analytical abilities (Data Interpretation)
  • Coaching Skills
  • Brief Knowledge of Quality tools

 

Qualification: Degree in finance, business administration, or a related field is preferred
